Take a Stand Against High Gas Prices; Urge Congress to Take Action!
American families are suffering from higher gasoline and food costs. In just the last 10 months, the average price of gasoline has increased by more than $1.04 per gallon, greatly impacting the already tight budgets of hard-working Americans across the country.
While there are many factors that can be attributed to rising gasoline costs, the gas tax is the easiest for the government to control. The bill we support provides a tax holiday, and this tax relief will be covered by cutting pork barrel spending.
Americans need relief from these high gas prices immediately and Congress has the ability to provide this by suspending the federal gas tax.
GasPriceProtest.com was just launched to achieve this goal, by providing concerned Americans with the ability to sign a petition to Congress and President Bush, urging them to take action by suspending the federal gas and diesel tax, starting June 21, 2008 and concluding September 20, 2008.
The price of fuel shouldn’t make hard working Americans choose between driving to work or providing a decent mean for their families – it’s time to tell Congress to step up and take immediate action.
As this petition grows, it will be delivered to member of Congress each time an increment of 25,000 signers is achieved. With a strong grassroots push, we’re hoping to make many deliveries.
It is critical that we tell Congress and the White House that hard working Americans need a break from high gas prices, and this petition is one way to do it. Please join with us and the thousands of Americans who have already signed, in telling Congress it’s time to cut the gas tax.
